This is the final installment of a very well researched history of one man that managed to call the wandering Mongolian tribes under one banner. It was good but tough Tough book to read only because of all the good byes to great characters. As you listen to the books you get a feeling that you understand the way certain warriors thought. Honestly i silvfr found a writer yet that would impress me as much as Conn Iggulden when it comes to historical fiction. Timeless and well crafted with Conqueror yet to come. Raiders from the North. Ogedei was a very different Khan then his father Genghis which was a fresh new approach to the story.

It’s great to have a book that is so easy to read, full of action and yet understand the most accurate history we have of that era too. He also majorly expanded the mongol empire in china, Iran, central Asia and even Europe.

The Blood of Gods. Oh gosh, I was close to tears in several parts of this book. Although this is the fourth book in the series of Genghis Khan this book could actually stand alone because this is the next generation afte Ghengis has died. Lots and lots of battle scenes told in just the right amount of detail.
I thought that the politics that came in to this book in choosing the new khan was thrilling and it looks as though we will be going through that all over again in the final installment. This audiobook can be listened to on: There is an unsuccessful attempt on his life on the eve of the oath-taking which will confirm his supreme position in the Mongol nation.

Again due to being historically accurate i understand why these things were included but i felt like i lost track of which cities were taken, for example due to the amount of battles and the great final battle i barely remember Kiev being conquered.

Conn Iggulden Narrated by: Although I greatly enjoyed this book, it had a very different feel from the first 3 books. As he farewells his son and tries to “enjoy” or absorb his last moments, missing his wife, he takes a deep breath and kneels to die.

So, even if you are unalterably opposed to learning, you will still probably enjoy the book as long as you enjoy reading about the period in which it was set and the people responsible for changing the then face of the world. Now on to book 5!
